J. P. Schauder Center for Nonlinear Studies was founded in 1991 at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (Poland). The intiative of the center was due to Andrzej Granas who became the first director of the center. Lech Górniewicz was the director in the period 1995-2012, and Wojciech Kryszewski was the director in 2012-2018. In 2019 Grzegorz Gabor was appointed as the director.
In 1993 the center in cooperation with American Mathematical Society started publishing a scientific journal Topological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis. The idea of a journal was due to Kazimierz Gęba, Lech Górniewicz and Andrzej Granas who was also appointed as the first Editor-in-Chief. Nowadays, Jean Mawhin (Belgium) is the Editor-in-Chief, Wojciech Kryszewski is the Managing Editor. There are published two volumes a year. Each volume consists of two numbers which appear quaterly. TMNA has became one of top scientific journals in the field of nonlinear anaysis.
In 1995 the center started publishing the LECTURE NOTES IN NONLINEAR ANALYSIS series. Its main purpose is popularization of nonlinear analysis and its applications in scientific communities.
